Philosophy: a meticulous passion to literature, art and science.

A sincere interest in caring for independent authorship extends to Moon’s philosophy, my personal philosophy. Everything is in relation to everything. The inhabitants of earth and earth to moon to sun to space. Being of service to writers helps me be of service to myself as a writer and a human being. Serving the highest quality work to others in turn serves me in my own work.

Stories are a repository of meaning, concepts of the world, how we see the world and our place in it. It’s through stories we come to know our place in the world. So the writer must exist to remind us of this. Remind us of our purpose in life. The spirit of the writer is formed through their experience of the internal and external world and on to the page. This expression reflects their base disposition adorned in their personal ‘rhythm and style’. It’s through pure honesty that gives rise to authenticity, giving birth to originality. It’s the proofreaders and editor’s responsibility to respect the authenticity of the work through their gentle craft. Not only in craft but in communication. We’re here to help the author through an arduous process that is called writing, not to harm the spirit of the creator and work. Each writer is different depending on where they are in life. So catering to each individual based on that understanding is important.

Creating is a spiritual process that requires immense energy, a sacrificial process to reveal what’s hidden from the rest of us. To help remind us of who we are. Through honest creation, we widen our consciousness and in return broaden our personality. This broadening of the personality makes our world a better place.

My passion in literature extends to the question of existence. Why are we here is the question of enigma. Mystery is beauty. If the world revealed all its treasures, beauty would cease, and there would be no point in writers and artists. In the spiritual plane, intangible world, we are all equal, but in the tangible world inequality exists. It’s through the spirit that literature and art form and communicate the intangible inside the tangible. It’s through these creators communicate the hidden.

Editorial excellence: The CIEP Code of Practice

I hold to CIEP’s Code of Practice (CoP) in my proofreading services, as a Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP). The following is a copy from CIEP:

'The CIEP's Code of Practice (CoP), Ensuring editorial excellence, is a valuable resource for editorial workers – editors, proofreaders and project managers, whether working freelance or in-house – and their clients and employers. Its purpose is to establish standards of best practice for CIEP members and help them maintain them and to encourage good professional relationships.

Good communication between client/employer and freelance/employee is essential. Clear briefing and the agreement of terms are vital if high standards are to be maintained by both parties, and unsurprisingly they're emphasised by the CoP.

In addition, the CoP includes guidance on: the professional behaviour of both freelance/employee and client/employer; standards for proofreading, editing and project management; and information on web editing, electronic file handling, email etiquette, confidentiality and computer security.

The CoP is endorsed by the CIEP Council. Although it isn't a legal document, it's considered binding on members and Corporate Subscribers. Although this is the CIEP’s primary code of practice, other documents have code of practice status and are binding on members.'
